Cyber security threats are constantly evolving, with more than 560,000 new threats discovered globally every day. New reports (UK Gov) have found that cyber attacks on UK businesses more than tripled over the previous year, from 2.39 million in 2022, to 7.78 million in 2023, with half of UK businesses reporting that they had been the target of a cyber attack throughout last year. Despite all of this, only 31% of UK Businesses (and only 26% of UK Charities) undertook a Cyber Security Risk Assessment in 2023.
We recognise the drastic rise in cyber threats on UK businesses through our own reporting, paired with the increasing use of AI in Malware, Ransomware, Phishing, and other targeted cyber attacks. We increased our Baseline Cyber Defence level to combat these growing threats, ensuring that all of our partners have a strong foundation to keep their business protected from these threats. As cyber criminals adopt Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models and Machine Learning solutions to improve the effectiveness of their attacks, businesses must improve the security solutions that they have in place, to be able to protect themselves from these growing cyber attacks.
Traditional anti-virus monitors for the signature of a virus against a central database of known threats to be able to block it. However, cyber actors are using these new AI-based tools to create polymorphic and metamorphic attacks with unique signatures for every new machine they infect. Thus, traditional anti-virus efforts are rendered effectively useless against modern threats. While statistics show that traditional anti-virus is only 30% effective against the latest threats, our own reporting shows that this number could actually be far lower.
We provide modern solutions to our clients, such as Managed Endpoint Detection and Response, paired with Application and Device Ringfencing, and Active Email Threat Protection (to name a few). We use AI and Machine Learning to combat these new AI-powered Powered Cyber Threats, proactively monitoring for unusual, suspicious, or malicious activity or intent, and blocking these attacks in their tracks.

In 2024, we launched NEO, which is currently rolling out across our customer base. NEO provides our customers with an easy-to-use AI IT Support Chat Bot Solution which is located directly in Microsoft Teams. It exists within your business environment, understanding your unique business infrastructure, what your users have access to, what previous tickets you and your business have raised and much more. NEO is then able to use AI, Machine Learning and Automation tools to be able to work with our customers to resolve common issues, even working in the background to perform automated fixes.
Because NEO can understand natural language requests, users can interact with it by saying things such as, “Joe Smith can’t print to the accounts printer...” NEO can then reference that Joe Smith works in accounts and should have access to the printer, it can see Joe’s machine, see the printers on the network and see if there is a printer designated as an account's printer. It can then reference previous tickets to see if this is a common issue and what the fix was in that instance.
From all this information, it can then work with the user to provide a fix for their query. It can already work through many “Line Zero” user requests, such as problems with printing, file or folder access, password resets, new user setup, and more. It is also constantly evolving, with new automations and background fixes being added, which will provide users with more seamless support through AI, Machine Learning and Background Automations.
If for any reason NEO can’t help a user with their query, it can raise a support ticket or (depending on availability) pass a user directly through to our highly skilled support engineers to be able to assist with higher level queries which require their unique skill sets.
